KFGO Radio: Armstrong calls impeachment 'incredibly flawed'

December 11, 2019

WASHINGTON (KFGO) - North Dakota Republican Congressman Kelly Armstrong says the two articles of impeachment filed against President Trump are "incredibly flawed."

Trump is charged with abuse of power and obstruction of congress. The charges stem from Trump's alleged pressure on Ukraine to announce investigations of his political rivals.

"They are using an ambiguous abuse of power charge because they have failed to prove an underlying crime" Armstrong said. "Because they can't meet the burden of proof for anything specific, they have decided to use all of it. This violates every standard of proof. This goes against our American sense of fundamental fairness and due process."

Republican Sen. Kevin Cramer has told KFGO News that the impeachment will "tear the country apart." Sen. John Hoeven says there are no grounds to impeach the president.
