ND Congressional Delegation Urge Approval of North Dakota Disaster Declaration Request for Severe Summer Weather

September 1, 2020

BISMARCK, N.D. – Senators John Hoeven and Kevin Cramer and Congressman Kelly Armstrong today issued the following statement in support of Governor Doug Burgum's request for a major presidential disaster declaration:

"Historic storms caused significant damage to homes, businesses, and infrastructure across northern North Dakota this summer. A presidential disaster declaration would unlock welcome federal assistance to aid the state and the affected communities in recovering. We appreciate Governor Burgum's efforts toward addressing the impacts of repeated disasters in the state, and we look forward to advancing this request with President Trump, who has been consistently responsive to North Dakotans in need."

The major presidential disaster declaration request is for the period of June 29 to July 1, 2020, covering six counties impacted by high winds, hail and flash flooding. Click here to view the Governor's request letter.
